CYPRUS AND Israel yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concerning bilateral cooperation and mutual assistance in the field of disaster management and civil protection.
Israel Minister of Home Front Defence Avi Dichter, signed the MoU with Interior Minister Eleni Mavrou during a brief visit to Cyprus.
The MoU effectively means enhanced cooperation between Israel and Cyprus in the event of natural disasters. Not only will the two countries help each other should a disaster occur, but they will also cooperate to prevent and prepare for such disasters.
The MoU provides for collaboration and sharing practices on how to prepare the population for disasters and crises, stressing civilians’ capacity to help themselves in such cases.
Teams will receive basic and advanced training in crisis management, while medical best practices in cases of emergency will also be shared.
